For the second time in a week criminal defense attorney Joshua LeRoy freed a client arguing self-defense pursuant to Florida’s Stand Your Ground Law. A Palm Beach County resident, represented by attorney Joshua LeRoy, had charges dismissed as a result of a “Stand your Ground” ruling. Lance Joseph stood accused of Attempted First Degree Murder after allegedly firing a gun at two deputy sheriffs. Joseph claimed that the shots were fired into the air as “warning shots” for another individual who had previously threatened Joseph’s life. Joseph said he was unaware that the deputies were even present. “Stand your Ground” protects a person’s right to use deadly force when necessary to protect oneself from harm or death. This ruling represented the second time in week that a Motion to Dismiss based on “Stand your Ground” was granted for a LeRoy Law client.
